Got it to hold fly rod, while starting motor or raising anchor. It just keep your expensive fly rod from getting scuffed up in boat. Well worth the money. Easy to install.

I hate to leave a one-star review, because I actually like the item, but I am super frustrated with the seller because they have sent the wrong item twice in a row despite the fact that, after the first time, I was very clear on what item they sent vs. what time the ordered. For context, I ordered #265 (which is the fly rod holder with the mount) and they sent me #260 (fly rod holder only, no mount). Not a huge deal but kind of a time-consuming hassle and it should be basic blocking and tackling for the fulfillment center. Otherwise the fly rod mount works fine, I've had two in the past but I lost them so I ordered two more. It's adjustable enough and keeps your fly rod in place.

The picture and description both indicate that the rod holder comes with the side deck mount. The holder came without the side deck mount.

I give the seller 1 star because I’ve ordered this twice now and neither order included the base (as it states it’s included and shows it in the photo). I sent the first one back, but kept the second and just ordered the base after the fact. Once I received the base and set it up, it looks like it’s well made and should work well. So 1 star for the seller and a 5 star for the actual Scotty product. (I thought Scotty was the seller, so I contacted them directly and they said another company is the actual seller of their product on Amazon).

Nice fly rod holder works good but no hard ware to mount it. had to find some long screws that will work, money wise it's the same price as in the Sporting good store,I found it ware they sell Kayak I almost got it thar and cancel my order but I didn't I thought it be less expensive on line.

I have used Scotty products since I was a child. Their stuff is well made. But this purchase of rod holder and base did not include the special bolts needed to mount the base. They must be 11/4 inch stainless steel. I called Amazon Customer Relations. They were perfect. Within minutes I was provided with a credit to my account to cover the cost of the 4 missing bolts. Outstanding Amazon service. Thank you.

This fly rod holder is top notch for Stillwater fishing. I love them to just put the rod in while you’re tying up or whatever, takes the stress out of your rod going in with the fish on those big ones!

This beauty is very well constructed, and holds my fly rod at any angle and rotation I want. The locking mechanism is very secure with large toothed mating surfaces, so it will not slip out of position. Very high quality construction and fit and finish. Mates up well with the Scott glue-on pad, but you can attach it to your boat or raft many other ways.

I recently purchased a Native 12 kayak and it came with two bait cast reel holders??? ... so I purchased the fly rod holder ... works great, easy to use and keeps my fly rod handy and behind me when I'm paddling. Nice product. I did not need the mount since my kayak already has several but you can't buy the holder without it.

I just bought my second Scotty Fly Rod Holder with the 241 side deck mount. These work great, and make it so much easier to fish when i am alone in the boat. I have had no problems with the fly rod holder, everything has worked and functioned properly. Definitely happy with this product. The 241 side deck mount enables you to install the deck mount in 2 different possible positions.Another reviewer was incorrectly concerned that the rubber part of the rod holder could break and then the rod holder would not work. This is not the case at all, the rubber part of the rod holder is only there for transporting the rod in an upright positions while in the boat. The rubber part does not have anything to do with the fly rod holder while it is in use. This is explained in the instructions that came with the product. I have used this fly rod holder several times and have not had any use for the rubber part as it is only for transportation of the rod while in the boat.
