Grooves too narrow and shallow to fit kibble.

My dog has a kibble allergy and has to eat raw grinds, which are really soft and easy to easy to gobble up. Some slow bowls leave enough room for him to still be able to eat too quickly, but the depth and spacing of this one really helps him to take his time. The suction power is more than enough to keep the bowl in place, but not so powerful that you sling remnants of food when you pull it off the floor.

My dog has been inhaling his food without chewing a single bite since he was a puppy. I'm not sure if that is related to his occasional digestive issues, but it may contribute. This little dog dish helps with his speed eating by simply making the kibble slightly challenging to access in the grooves at the bottom of the dish. It took my dog over 5 minutes to eat his breakfast this morning instead of the usual 20 seconds! And he appears to enjoy it. Because he's a herder type, he has a vary active brain and enjoys problems solving. He has to use his tongue to work the kibble out of the grooves. This simple dish makes eating more engaging for him rather than just wolfing down the food.It also goes in the dishwasher, so is simple to clean. I would like to note that kibble size matters. Small to medium size kibble falls down into the grooves where you want it, to be more challenging for the dog to reach. Large size kibble will stay on top of the grooves and not slow down eating the way it's supposed to.Highly recommended.

Does your pup inhale their kibble faster than a squirrel at a bird feeder? If so, the Naielfopet Slow Feeder Dog Bowl might be the answer to your mealtime woes. This unique bowl boasts several features designed to slow down even the most enthusiastic eaters, promoting better digestion and reducing choking risks. Pros:Effective Slow Feeding: The bowl's maze-like design with ridges and compartments extends mealtime, encouraging slower, more mindful eating. This can benefit dogs prone to gulping, bloating, or vomiting due to fast eating.Secure Suction Base: Powerful suction cups keep the bowl firmly in place, even with excited pups who love to nudge and push. No more spilled kibble or frustrated fur-babies!Easy to Clean: Made from food-grade silicone, the bowl is dishwasher safe and resists stains and odors. Cleaning up after messy eaters is a breeze. Cons:Not Ideal for Flat-Faced Breeds: The bowl's shallow depth might be challenging for brachycephalic dog breeds like pugs or bulldogs, which can struggle with wider, shallower bowls.Potential Kibble Size Limitation: Larger kibble pieces might get stuck in some of the smaller maze sections, so it's best suited for medium-sized kibble or smaller.Single Size Option: Currently, the bowl only comes in one size, which might not be suitable for very large dog breeds. Overall: The Naielfopet Slow Feeder Dog Bowl is a solid choice for pet owners looking to curb their dog's rapid eating habits. Its effective design, secure suction base, and easy cleaning make it a convenient and helpful tool. However, consider your dog's breed, kibble size, and individual needs before purchasing.

This bowl, that allows dogs to eat more slowly rather than bolting their food, is good for smaller dogs. I am a longtime dog trainer so I am persnickety when it comes to dog related items. It's a nice mat for our sheltie, but not for our rough collies; way too small for those big dogs. There are other larger bowls and I will order another one and use this one for our sheltie. Good for dogs who (yes, who, not that) bolt their food and also since it is like a puzzle, it is good for keeping them alert and engaged. A great purchase for smaller dogs. UPDATE: I was contacted by this seller, asking me if I wanted a refund. I of course did not take it as I received this from Vine to review. I do want to say that the bowl is fine for smaller dogs, and that this seller stands behind the product. I do recommend this bowl for smaller dogs. It is wonderful that the seller cares about their products! Additionally--I like the suction cups that are on the bottom of this bowl because it keeps it steady and won't tip or move around. I do think this bowl is a good purchase!

One of our dogs has, for years, scarfed down her food as though her life depended on it, which has led to some digestive issues, as well as her sometimes trying to take our other dog's food. We've tried other slow feeder bowls, but they barely made a difference. This bowl, though, actually forced her to take her time, to the point where our slower dog is able to finish their food first.Basically, it all comes down to some of the kibble being able to go into the grooves. We use Kirkland brand dog food, so the kibble is the right size, but I can imagine if you use larger pieces, they may just rest on top. But when the food's in the grids, the dog definitely has to put more work into getting her food, but at the end of the day, she's still able to access all of it.Honestly, the only thing I'm not a huge fan of of this bowl is the suction cups at the bottom, as they're a bit intrusive and finicky. I feel it would have been more elegant just to have a wider silicone base, similar to what toddler food plates are like. That said, I have the bowl on a mat anyway, so it doesn't make much difference.Overall, if you have a dog that just eats way too fast, this is the first slow feeder bowl I've seen that really makes a dent in that speed.

I love the quality of the material and the suction cups on bottom. I think the grooves may be a bit to deep though. My cats can not seem to dig the food out of them.
